Our Story
Mayura Dance was founded on a simple belief that dance is for everyone. We celebrate our desi culture through movement: in our studios, on stage, and at some of Houston's most memorable weddings and events. Every single class and workshop is built around the same thing: a community where you belong from Day One, no experience required.

Vaidehi Mankar
Founder & Creative Director
With 25+ years across Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Bollywood, Hip Hop, and everything in between, Vaidehi has danced on stages from Austin to San Francisco before planting roots in Houston. As Founder and Creative Director of Mayura Dance, she turned a lifelong passion into the city's go-to South Asian dance community.
Heer Patel
Mayura Dance Instructor
A dancer since age 4, Heer brings classical roots in Bharatanatyam and a growing love for Bhangra, Bollywood, and hip-hop to every class she teaches. As a Mayura Dance instructor, she's passionate about sharing the joy of movement with students at every level — and yes, she's also a double major in Supply Chain, Finance, and Accounting.
Saumya Bansal
Mayura Dance Instructor
A tech professional by day and dancer by night, Saumya has trained in Bharatanatyam and hip-hop with a serious love for BollyHop, the high-energy style that blends the best of both worlds. As a Mayura Dance instructor, she brings great vibes and an infectious enthusiasm for the art form to every class."
Ashna Kataria
MDC Co-Founder & Operations Director
A Houston native with a background in Bollywood, hip hop, and Latin dance, Ashna brings high-energy performance and a natural gift for bringing people together. As Co-Founder and Operations Director of Mayura Dance Company, she's the one making things happen behind the scenes, from intimate gatherings to large-scale productions.
